We transformed this charming bungalow in Lexington, MA, to better meet the needs of a growing family. Our clients, a Harvard alumnus, and their family wanted to create more functional spaces, especially for their three teenagers. The existing layout lacked a family room, and the flow was not ideal. We tackled these challenges with a whole-house remodel and a two-story garage addition. We started by converting the old garage into a sophisticated entertainment space. Drawing inspiration from a Chicago airport lounge, we designed a custom walnut bar with matching cabinetry and a marble insert behind the glassware shelving. The space ... read moreSkylit Retreat

At Feinmann, we transformed a Concord, Massachusetts home, focusing on the attic and first floor. Our vision for the attic included a family room with vaulted ceilings, skylights, and a nautical theme, creating a blend of modernity and warmth. We added a serene bedroom with rustic charm and a luxurious bathroom featuring a white and gold color scheme. On the first floor, we reimagined the mudroom and powder room. We introduced deep navy cabinetry and sophisticated gold accents in the mudroom, along with a classic yet contemporary wallpaper in the powder room. Our design seamlessly integrated elegance with functionality, achieving ... read moreCharlestown Charm

Feinmann transformed this beautiful and almost 200-year-old home in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The client was a detail-oriented couple with a distinct taste and passion for design. Since they were open to new ideas, the possibilities and creativity were endless. Solutions, suggestions, and inspirations flew back and forth from start to finish, creating a truly unforgettable project. The primary goal was to expand the kitchen. However, we couldn’t renovate this room because it was part of the rear section of the home that had no foundation. To work around this limitation and Boston’s strict zoning guidelines, we replaced the back of their ... read moreA Suite Above

Feinmann thoughtfully designed and built a multi-use primary attic suite that’s perfect for homeowners to use while accommodating guests. The results deliver a beautiful bedroom, office, bathroom, walk-in closet, and storage with openness, separation, and light. First, we designed an open-concept floor plan that creates excitement, curiosity, and movement as you walk through the space. The design also respects the unique site lines and sloped roof. We then built a bedroom with a semi-partition to create privacy while sleeping. This partition includes pass-through windows with shelving to add an open feel. The angled endpoint gives the space character and intimacy ... read moreReimagined Roots

As a family grows, their home must grow with them. Feinmann thoughtfully reimagined a 1750-square-foot semi-finished basement to meet the entire family’s needs. The result was a unique combination of living spaces that leveraged a striking balance of modern and rustic charm. We first built a beautiful living space for the daughter, a thriving teacher, and an empty-nester. Her goals were downsizing, being closer to her parents, and caring for them. This space features an open, airy kitchen and living room with clean finishes and bright colors. It also includes an easy-access walk-in food pantry and a bedroom and bathroom ... read moreCurated Comfort

The new owners of a 2007 center-hall Colonial in Concord came to Feinmann seeking a whole house renovation. Among their primary goals was opening the flow of the space by taking down walls and providing an improved view of the Sudbury River behind their home. They also had a predilection for the modern aesthetic over the traditional and wanted to effectively integrate both elements into the design. On the first floor renovations would include a new modern kitchen, eating area, dining area, living area, playroom, and remodeled full bath. With the addition of a new master suite, a Bedford couple turned their modest ranch house – with its cramped master bedroom and exceedingly small “master bath” – into a delightful, joyful and colorful home. The spa-like master bath features a soaking tub that steps down into a partially enclosed shower space with rain heads and pebble tile flooring. The master bedroom boasts a large walk-in closet and a generously-sized bay window that opens onto views of back yard garden and the woodlands beyond. Victorian houses were a popular style in the late 1890s in Massachusetts, but they rarely conform to our modern standards of use and convenience. The owners of a Newton Victorian of the same period came to Feinmann to update two bathrooms and add laundry on the second floor while maintaining the revered ambiance of the house. Additional storage and closet retrofits were another priority. Swapping the original master bath with the family bath enabled Feinmann to reconfigure the second story, moving doorways and closets to satisfy the goals of the project. Adding 15 square feet to the master bath permitted ... read moreSwank & Private Master Bath
